Chat

Chat is the quickest way to make a lot at once. Say what you want, in your own words, and it plans it: which vanilla blocks to reskin, which items, a GUI, a HUD, sounds. You get a card listing every item with its price, and nothing is made until you press Generate.

Opening it#

Press Chat at the top of the pack page. It opens beside the pack, so you can watch new assets appear in the grid as they're made.

Starting a new pack? Fill in What should it have? when you create it. The pack opens with Chat already planning it from what you wrote.

How it works#

  1. Ask. "Make everything ice themed", "a shop GUI for my server", "rank tags for Member, VIP and Owner". If the pack already has things in it, Chat looks first, so it adds to what's there rather than repeating it. If it needs to know something first, it asks with the answers laid out as buttons: pick one, tick a few, or type the words it needs.
  2. Check the card. Each item shows its type, what it replaces, the prompt it will be generated from, and about what it costs. Untick anything you don't want, and press Edit prompt to change what it will be made from.
  3. Press Generate. Each item is generated exactly as if you'd made it from Add asset: the same price, the same refund if it fails, and the same editors afterwards. The card follows each one until it's ready, with a link to open it. You can close Chat while they run.

You can keep talking after that: "now the tools to match", "make the HUD greener", "what's still missing?".

What it can make#

TypeWhat Chat proposes
BlockA reskin of a vanilla block texture. A block with several faces, like grass or a log, gets each of its textures.
ItemA 2D sprite, replacing a vanilla item or as a new one of its own, or a 3D item if you ask for 3D.
ModelA 3D model, handed out as an item or placed as a block. This is how you get a new block of your own.
ArmourA reskin of a vanilla armour set, or a 3D set if you ask for one.
GUIA chest or menu screen, planned from the description.
HUDThe hearts, hunger, hotbar and the rest, in one look. A pack has one.
DialogA Minecraft 1.21.6+ dialog screen: settings, a shop, rules.
IconA glyph you can type into chat, signs and books.
Rank tagThe badge in front of a player's name. Name several ranks for a matching set.
SoundA sound effect, replacing a vanilla one or as a new event.
HUD shaderAn overlay drawn on screen, like a health bar or a status panel.
3D objectA shader object placed in the world, like a portal or a hologram.
Text effectAn animated look for chat and sign text, like fire or a rainbow.
VFXA spell or ability effect, like a slash or a lightning strike.
EmoteA player animation, for one player or several together.

Chat can also change things you already have: ask for "make the sword red" and it plans an edit of that asset, run by the same Edit with AI its page has. That works for blocks, items, models, icons, 3D objects, text effects, VFX and emotes; GUIs, HUDs, dialogs, armour and sounds are changed in their editors. Skins aren't made from Chat, and it can't delete or export anything. It can put a Sync button in the chat for you to press.

Making a whole pack#

  • Say the look, not just the theme. "Frozen tundra: pale blue ice, snowy spruce, frost on every edge" gets you pieces that match. Chat writes that look into every prompt.
  • It starts with what players see most: the common blocks, the tools in their hand, the chest screen and the HUD. One card is usually 12 to 16 items, 24 at most. Ask for the next batch when the first is done.
  • 3D models are left out unless you ask. They take several minutes each and cost the most; a pack is mostly textures.
  • Set a Style Guide first if you want an exact palette: it's the palette button at the top of the pack. Everything generated afterwards, from Chat or not, follows it.

Pictures#

Attach up to four pictures to a message with the picture button, by pasting, or by dropping them on the panel. Chat sees them and passes them to the items that should follow them, the same way a reference image works in Add asset.

What it costs#

Talking to Chat is free, up to 150 messages a day. Generating uses AI Credits, and the card shows the price of each item and the total before you press Generate. If the total is more than your balance the card says so: untick some, or the last ones won't start.

Your conversation stays in this browser

Chat keeps the conversation for each pack in your browser, so it's there when you come back. It doesn't follow you to another computer or a private window. New chat at the top of the panel starts again; anything already generating carries on.

On a pack you were invited to, Chat only offers what your access lets you generate. See Collaborators.
